Frequently Asked Questions

  • Payments can be made:

    • Online through the student portal

    • Over the phone using a card by calling 580-581-3470.

    • In-person using a card or check at the McMahon Memorial Auditorium, Monday-Friday, 8:00-5:00PM. Visit the office located at 801 NW Ferris, west-side entrance (facing Lawton High School). The office is labeled Parks and Recreation, Arts and Humanities Division.

  • All class payments are due by 5:00PM the day before the first day of the scheduled class. Failure to pay by this deadline may result in losing your spot to someone on the waiting list.

If you’re on the waiting list, you will be contacted if a spot becomes available. Payment will be required immediately to secure your place. (An email reminder will be sent to those who have signed up but have not yet paid.)

  • Applying for the scholarships does not guarantee enrollment.

Scholarships are only available if spots remain open in courses after the enrollment period ends. If a course still has openings, scholarship recipients will be notified and must accept the scholarship by the first class.

Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who have expressed interest in receiving one to fill any remaining spots in courses. Recipients are required to write a thank-you letter to the McMahon Auditorium Authority Board.

Please note: If you wish to secure your spot in a course, you must enroll and make your payment by the first class.

  • Please use either the West entrance or the ADA ramp located on the east side of the building to enter. The ADA entrance is through a gate at sidewalk level, which will be open during class times. A security guard will also be on-site.

The front steps of the building are currently damaged and should not be used for entry. Thank you for your understanding!

  • We offer a few classes specifically for grade school aged children.

    Here are other local opportunities:

    • Lawton Fort Sill Arts Council offers art workshops for children nearly every month. Visit their Facebook page or call (580) 585-7073.

    • Lawton Public Schools Summer Arts Institute offers arts programs during the summer. Learn more at lawtonartsforall.org or call 580-248-5384.

    • Cameron University Summer Art Camps provide age-specific art camps. Details can be found here.

  • Supply fees are listed along with each course description, and supply lists will be shared with enrolled students before the start of classes. Some classes may require you to bring your own supplies, while others may require you to pay a small supply fee.

The supply fees assist us in keeping the tuition low while ensuring that quality materials are available to be used as recommended by our Teaching Artists.

  • We seek highly skilled and qualified instructors with teaching experience. If you are interested in applying, you can reach out to us at arts@lawtonok.gov for a link to an application.
