The goal of the Lawton Arts & Cultural Awards is to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the cultural life of our community through arts and humanities. Since 1971, the City of Lawton and the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council, which was recently absorbed into the McMahon Auditorium Authority, have presented awards to Lawton citizens who have significantly impacted our community's cultural fabric. The McMahon Auditorium Authority Arts and Humanities Committee serves as a jury, recommending the McMahon Auditorium Authority purchase three pieces of artwork from one artist. The artwork, in turn, is presented to the three people who win the 2022 Lawton Cultural Awards. The award is $600.00 for the three pieces.
